Briefing from Show Me That I Matter and I Still Matter

Summary

1.      This verbal briefing will provide the Corporate Parenting Board with an           overview of the functions of the Children and Care Council and Care Leavers Forum and some of the group’s priorities going forward.    Representatives will share with elected members some of the work they   have carried out in helping to create the new Guarantee (York’s Pledge          for Children and Young People in Care).

Background

2.      Show Me That I Matter is the name of York’s Children in Care Council         and I Still Matter is York’s Care Leavers Forum.  Both groups meet on a    monthly basis and are facilitated by Speak Up, York’s Children’s Rights and Advocacy Service.   

3.      Consultation

Representatives are attending on behalf of the Children in Care Council      and Care Leavers Forum.

There are no options to be considered as this is an information briefing        for new members.

This reports links to the Council Plan - a focus on frontline services - to ensure all residents, particularly the least advantaged, can access reliable services and community facilities.
